<p>International Talent Workshop is  film workshop intended for students, and young people with different point of view from around the world. Students are united together for learning and creating quality film accomplishments with the idea of spreading tolerance.</p>
<p>The Workshop is traditionally held every year in Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia, during the Festival of Tolerance – Jewish Film Festival Zagreb. This year, for the 7 year in a row the Workshop is taking a place form May 17th to 24th 2014. Young talents from Croatia and abroad will, uder the expert guidance, make one short meter film. They will have the opportunity to show their accomplishmet to the audience in Zagreb on May 24th at 20:15 PM at kino Tuškanac.</p>
<p>This year, the selection committee chose a total of 6 best applicants and formed a single group of workshop participants.</p>
<p>The programme of the Talent Workshop consists of a series of lectures, film screenings, screenplay development, shooting, editing, open discussions in a friendly atmosphere and, finally, realization of short digital film. The Workshop unites film theory and practice, with the aim of filling the gap between formal education and its practical applications, and creating a multicultural dialogue among participants from all over the world.</p>
<p>The young future film makers will work with Mr. Branko Lustig, the Honorary President of  the Festival and double Academy Award winner, Mr. Mirko Ilić, esteemed designer and illustrator, whit others expert such as Mr. Darko Lungov, famous director and screenwriter, Academy Award winner Stefan Ruzowitzky and famous german director Jeanine Meerapfel.</p>

The workshop is organized by an association of Jewish Film Festival, headed by Honorary President Branko Lustig (“Schindler’s List,” “Gladiator,” “Black Hawk Down,” “American Gangster”), a double winner of the prestigious film awards Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA and many others.</p>
<p>Lectures of workshop are renowned professionals from Croatia and all around the world such as Branko Lustig, Mirko Ilić and Darko Lungulov.</p>
<p><strong>Branko Lustig</strong> is the Honorary President of the Zagreb Jewish Film Festival. Croatia’s most prominent cultural ambassador is a regular lecturer at ITW. Lustig not only received numerous awards for film productions (including two Academy Awards, for the films ‘Schindler’s List’ and ‘Gladiator’), he also was an active participant in the academy’s commission for Oscar nominations and awards for many years.</p>
<p><strong>Mirko Ilić</strong>, award-winning world-renowned designer, lecturer and illustrator, will also again hold lectures for the participamts. In 1995 Ilić established Mirko Ilic Corp. in New York, a multidisciplinary studio specializing in graphic design, 3D animation, motion picture titles, and illustration. It has received awards from numerous organizations like the Society of Illustrators, the Art Directors Club, ID Magazine, Print Magazine, HOW Magazine and many more.</p>
<p><strong>Darko Lungulov</strong> – was born in Belgrade, and is a graduate of City College of New York. He worked as director and producer for Spiral Pictures/Ross Institute. His film “Escape” was awarded with audience’s award on Hamptons International Film Festival 2004, and also had a long and successful screening life on festivals like Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival 2004, FEST 2005, Leipzig Documentary Film Festival 2005 and Santiago de Chile 2006. Lungolov also won the “Balkan Fund” award on 47. International film festival in Salonika for his “There and here” screenplay. Aforementioned film is starred by some of the most prominent region’s actors, such as Mirjana Karanović, Branislav Trifunović, and curiously enough, former global pop star Cindy Lauper.</p>
<p>This year we are expecting famous names as <strong>Jeanine Meerapfel</strong> and <strong>Stefan Ruzowitzky</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Jeanine Meerapfel</strong> is a German-Argentine film director and screenwriter. She has directed 17 films since 1966. In 1984, she was a member of the jury at the 34th Berlin International Film Festival. Her 1987 film Days to Remember was entered into the 37th Berlin International Film Festival. Her newes film &#8220;My German Friend&#8221; will be present on this year&#8217;s Festival of Tolerance.</p>
<p><strong>Stefan Ruzowitzky</strong> is an Austrian film director and screenwriter. He begun as a music video and commercials director. He is known for award winning movies “Tempo”, “The Inheritors”,“Anatomy”, “Deadfall”, while in 2008 he won an Oscar for “The Counterfeiters” in the category Best Foreign Language Film of the Year. His newest film „Radical Evil“ will be presented in Croatia on this year&#8217;s Festival of Tolerance.</p>

<h3>ABOUT THE LECTURER</h3>
<p><strong>Mirko Ilić</strong> is graphic designer, illustrator and lecturer. In 1995, he established Mirko Ilic Corp. in New York, a multidisciplinary studio specializing in graphic design, 3D animation, motion picture titles, and illustration. Before arriving in the U.S., Mirko Ilic art directed numerous posters, record covers and books in Europe. In 1991, he was art director of the international edition of Time Magazine. He became the art director of the New York Times Op-Ed pages in 1992. With Milton Glaser, Mirko has taught advanced design classes at the Cooper Union and currently teaches master degree classes in illustration at the School of Visual Arts. He has also written several books. Recently he has been very active in holding the lectures on the topic of the symbols of hatred.</p>
<h3>ABOUT THE LECTURE</h3>
<p>Mirko Ilic will hold a multimedial lecture. He will talk about the pervasive neo-fascist iconography in public areas on the territory of the former Yugoslavia and beyond. His lecture entitled &#8220;The Symbols of Hatred&#8221; discusses local and regional problem of public suppression or neglect of the graphic symbols and hate speech of neo-Nazi groups (skinheads, neo-Nazis and extreme soccer fans) which have recently strengthened, become larger and more violent.This lecture was held already in Zagreb (to an exclusive audience), Sarajevo and Belgrade.</p>

Germany, 2013, director: Jakob Zapf, 16 min</p>
<p>&#8220;Sein Kampf&#8221; is a story about pride, repression, and redemption, about two neonazi brothers. Younger is under the influence of his two years older sibling. Boris (16) wants to be real skinhead! At least that&#8217;s what he thinks. Today an old Jew who survived Auschwitz is coming to talk to them at school. But his brother Marcel (18) has a plan&#8230; Boris agrees to provoke David (83). But he didn’t reckon with the presence of that old man and the power of his story.</p>

<h3>ABOUT THE LECTURER</h3>
<p><strong>Branko Lustig</strong> is the most famous cultural ambassador of Croatia in the world and the winner of numerous awards for film production (including two Academy Awards, for the films “Schindler’s List” and “Gladiator”). Other major Hollywood films that Lustig has worked on as a producer or executive producer include “The Peacemaker”, “Hannibal”, and “Black Hawk Down”. For many years he has worked in Hollywood as an active participant of the Academy’s Commission for Oscar Nominations and Awards. He began his career as an assistant director at Jadran film, and participated in almost all foreign film productions in the former Republic of Yugoslavia. In the Unites States he has worked with prominent directors such as Steven Spielberg, Ridley Scott and others. In June 2009, Mr. Lustig received an honorary doctorate of the University of Zagreb for his outstanding contribution to film industry and worldwide promotion of Croatian film. He is a lecturer at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, at the department of Production. He also holds lectures, on the topics of Holocaust and tolerance, to pupils and students all across Croatia.</p>
<h3>ABOUT THE LECTURE</h3>
<p>Branko Lustig will hold a lecture on his own experiences from Nazi concentration camps, and from his own rich life experience stresses the message about the necessity of forgiveness and love for others others, as well as the need to respect each human being. In order for society, and especially younger generations, to learn about the Holocaust and this tragic epoch of human history, one needs to know how to approach them. Precisely for the purpose of teaching today’s children about the atrocities of WWII concentration camps, Branko Lustig has been tireless in retelling his experiences from the camps; about the horrors that must not happen ever again. Learning and remembering must not cease. It is learning and remembering that need to serve as a warning to future generation, because that is the only way to prevent such injustices to occur again. That is the message of Branko Lustig’s lectures.</p>

<p>&#8220;Wunderkinder&#8221; tells a story of musically unusually talented children developing a deep and genuine friendship extending beyond their different religions and nationality. But when WWII comes to the Soviet Union, they and their families face a deadly threat. The protagonists, the Jewish children Larissa and Abrascha, are violin virtuosos. Hanna, a young German girl, is also extremely talented. Living in Poltava, then the Ukraine, in 1941, they all share one great love: music. Their world is one of curiosity, joy and talent. But due to the insanity of grown-ups at home and abroad, their world is turned upside down and they are suddenly told they are no longer allowed to be friends! &#8220;Wunderkinder&#8221;’s universal themes make the film timeless.</p>

<p>For the seventh year in a raw, within the Festival of Tolerance – 8th Jewish Film Festival Zagreb, we are organizing the International Talent Workshop &#8211; ITW which will be held from 17th to 24th of May in Zagreb, Croatia. Ten participants from all the world will be under the expert guidance of professional filmmakers, making two short films that will later be shown to the Zagreb audience on the last day of the festival, 24thof May, in cinema Tuškanac.</p>
<p>Our desire is to present a workshop that brings together young talents who will have the unique opportunity to learn about the world of film, but also to share their knowledge with others &#8211; making new acquaintance with people from the profession.</p>
<p>During this training program, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the making of the film through all its stages &#8211; from processing, script writing to shooting, editing and finally &#8211; display, with the help of renowned local and international film professionals. Young filmmakers will work with the honorary president of the festival Mr. <strong>Branko Lustig</strong> and the esteemed designer and illustrator Mr. <strong>Mirko Ilic</strong> along side many other professionals from the world of domestic and foreign film.</p>
<p>Workshop leaders are <strong>Staša Čelan</strong> &#8211; our longtime associate lecturer with extensive experience in film workshops and one of the founders of the young film production company Focusmedia Ltd. and <strong>Andrej Korovljev</strong> – a man with a great experience in directing and producing adverts, a double Porin winner and an Octavian and Jelena Rajkovic award winner.</p>

<p>With the participants Branko Lustig shared part of his rich cinematic experience with accompanying anecdotes and insightful analysis of European and Hollywood cinema. The presentation was followed by an optional questions and answers section after which the participants were left to work on the script of the film which will be recorded in the next few days.</p>
<p>Next lecture is organized on Sunday, 19.05 at 15:00, and it will be held by our guest from USA Bram Tihany. He began his creative career in commercial design freelancing as an illustrator, model maker, and product designer. In 2003 he received a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Photography from Pratt Institute.</p>
<p>His short films have garnered numerous awards and grants and have been featured domestically and internationally in festivals, including the Kodak Emerging Filmmakers Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival. While studying filmmaking he was introduced to traditional black &amp; white photography and quickly adopted the form as a primary medium. His exploration of photography currently encompasses a broadening creative range, and he has travelled around the world shooting commissioned and personal projects. Tihany also serves as creative director for Theory Engine INC, his production company specializing in installation video animation.</p>

U trajanju od sedam dana, točnije od 19. do 25. svibnja, u sklopu festivalskog filmskog programa domaćoj će publici biti prikazano 57 filmova koji na različite načine progovaraju o toleranciji. Ovogodišnje festivalsko izdanje predstavili su Branko Lustig, počasni predsjednik Festivala, Nataša Popović, direktorica Festivala, a ispred Grada Zagreba kao pokrovitelja Festivala govorio je gradonačelnik Milan Bandić.</p>
<p>”Naš festival krenuo je kao Festival židovskog filma, zatim smo se bavili temom holokausta, a sada smo prerasli u Festival tolerancije. S ponosom možemo reći i da je ovo festival antifašizma o čijoj edukaciji se posebno brinemo. Primjetio sam kako su djeca nedovoljno educirana na temu holokausta, o tome se govori u floskulama. Nitko ne govori o tome da među djecom moramo razvijati ljubav, a to znači i toleranciju. Stoga smo to uzeli kao svoju zadaću, a u tome nas svesrdno podržava pokrovitelj Grad Zagreb i gradonačelnik Milan Bandić“, izjavio je Branko Lustig.</p>
<p>”Zahvaljujući njima, ove godine filmski program prikazuje se, osim u kinu Europa, i na novoj lokaciji – u Art-kinu Grič – i to dio bogatog dokumentarnog programa. Među njima bih istaknuo film ”Obilježeni“ o tetoviranim zarobljenicima iz Auschwitza kojih je od 400 tisuća danas živo samo tri tisuće. Među njima sam i ja. No, naš program nije samo posvećen židovskim temama, već svim manjinama te zapravo univerzalnim temama ljubavi i tolerancije. U Zagreb dovodimo i 19 nagrađivanih igranih filmova, a s ponosom mogu najaviti da Festival otvaramo beogradskim filmom ”Kad svane dan“ mog prijatelja Gorana Paskaljevića s nevjerojatnim Mustafom Nadarevićem u glavnoj ulozi“, dodao je Lustig.</p>
<p>Podršku Festivalu iskazao je gradonačelnik Grada Zagreba Milan Bandić: ”Drago mi je što sam danas ovdje, posebno jer je tema ovog festivala tolerancija, a Zagreb jest grad tolerancije. Ove godine Festival ima i izvozni karakter. Održava se i u Rijeci. Zahvalan sam Gradu Rijeci što su nas prihvatili. Sretan sam i ponosan što ćemo u nedjelju u 19 sati Branko Lustig i ja zajedno otvoriti sedmi Festival tolerancije, jer tada završava izborna šutnja“, izjavio je gradonačelnik Milan Bandić.</p>

<p><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-1054" alt="7th FT2" src="http://talent.arhiva2014.festivaloftolerance.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2013/05/7th-FT2.jpg" width="500" height="334" />”Iz godine u godinu gradimo kulturnu manifestaciju koja djeluje u području čuvanja svjedočanstava povijesti te educiramo o holokaustu zagovarajući promicanje demokratskih praksi koje imaju stvarno i simbolično značenje za društvo u cjelini, potičući institucije, građane i ostale na rješavanje općih humanitarnih i društvenih zadaća kojima smo svakodnevno okruženi. Pored filmskog programa ove godine predstavljamo izložbu 17 originalnih plakata iz 1941. godine pod nazivom ”Antimasonski plakati“, kao i održavanje obrazovnih radionica za djecu i mlade o holokaustu pod nazivom ”Edukacijska jutra“.</p>
<p>Ove godine predavač na prvom Edukacijskom jutru je Mirko Ilić s multimedijalnim predavanjem ”Simboli mržnje“ u sklopu kojeg će se prikazati korištenje neonacističkih simbola u svakodnevnom životu s posebnim naglaskom na sportske događaje. Već šestu godinu za redom organiziramo Međunarodnu filmsku radionicu u sklopu koje će polaznici pod stručnim vodstvom snimiti jedan kratkometražni film i potom taj uradak prikazati zagrebačkoj publici na projekciji koja će se održati 25. svibnja u 18:45 sati u Art-kinu Grič“, izjavila je Nataša Popović.</p>
<p>”Ove godine uvodimo i novu programsku cjelinu – riječ je o Književnim večerima koje će se održavati u galeriji Velvet na kojima će uz sudjelovanje stručnjaka i izdavača biti predstavljene tri knjige koje se bave razvojem civilnog dijaloga i temama bliskim Festivalu. A od početaka Festivala glazbenim programom približavamo se mlađoj, urbanoj ciljanoj skupini – tako će ove godine, 25. svibnja u klubu Aquarius nastupiti LeFtO, poznati belgijski producent i trenutačno jedan od najtraženijih freestyle DJ-eva na svijetu. Spomenuti program realizira se u suradnji s festivalom Žedno uho“, dodala je Nataša Popović.</p>
<p>Festival tolerancije – 7. Festival židovskog filma otvara se u nedjelju, 19. svibnja u 19.30 sati u kinu Europa projekcijom filma “Kad svane dan”redatelja Gorana Paskaljevića. Ova drama u srpsko-francusko-hrvatskoj koprodukciji koja govori o umirovljenom profesoru glazbe koji pod neobičnim okolnostima otkriva svoje pravo podrijetlo, bila je ovogodišnji srpski kandidat za nagradu Oscar te je dosad osvojila niz priznanja na festivalima diljem svijeta.</p>
<p>Programi se održavaju u suradnji s Gradskim uredom za obrazovanje, kulturu i šport, UNHCR-om, Veleposlanstvom Sjedinjenih Američkih Država, AIC Foundation Inc., Ministarstvom socijalne politike i mladih, Goethe Institutom, Ministarstvom kulture, Veleposlanstvom Države Izrael, Queer Zagreb Sezonom te Žednim uhom.</p>

<p>Don’t hesitate – the 6th edition of TALENT WORKSHOP  is organized just for you!  So, give us “high five”, apply and become part of one of two international five-member film teams which will, during the ten days of intensive socializing and educating, eagerly work on the goal of realizing two short feature films!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The films will be made after the previously chosen screenplays from the TALENT WORKSHOP COMPETITION FOR SCREENWRITERS, submitted on the theme “TOLERANCE”!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Both films will be made in HD quality. Detailed information about the equipment can be found on the TALENT WORKSHOP  web pages, in section “MORE ABOUT WORKSHOP 6” !</p>

<p>The official language of TALENT WORKSHOP is English, therefore it is essential that all the participants possess active knowledge of that language!</p>

<p>At the end of the Workshop, the films you make will be screened as a part of the 7th Jewish Film Festival final day official program!</p>

<p>The jury, consisting of three notable film professionals, will make a decision which of the two films deserves to receive a SPECIAL PRIZE!</p>
